Meet Sloan
Architect
Originally from rural East Texas, I have lived and worked across the country, cultivating a diverse background of experiences and projects.
While my practice is based in Collingswood, New Jersey, I operate across several states, primarily helping families create their dream homes. I also do boutique commercial work for small businesses.
I am a registered architect in New Jersey, New York, and Texas - and hold a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, as well as a Master of Architecture from Syracuse University.
BIM Consultant
In addition to traditional practice, I specialize in helping support other architects on their own BIM journey.
By leveraging my experience both as an architect and as a former BIM manager, I bring a unique and personal understanding to the ever-evolving world of design technology.
I have helped transition multiple firms from CAD to Revit, trained numerous staff of all experience levels, and provided continuing support with content creation and management.
Revit Journey
I began dabbling with Revit in 2001 (prior to it’s purchase by Autodesk) as a side project in my high school drafting class. I recognized it’s potential for transforming how buildings are designed and documented, and it’s efficiencies over a traditional CAD workflow.
In college, I made it a point to learn and use all manner of BIM and design technology tools to elevate my design projects (and despite a surprising amount of naysayers!). These experiences helped transform my own workflow and develop a nimbleness with not only learning, but advocating for and teaching them.
In graduate school, I was also a teaching and research assistant for multiple digital design and representation courses. It was these experiences that helped me land a job as an assistant BIM manager despite the dismal job market in the late 2000's.
Ever since, I have been an integral part of the design technology efforts in each firm I’ve been involved in, from small high-end residential practices to large international firms. In fact, it was this background that helped me launch my own practice in 2021, including serving as a contract BIM consultant for one of my old firms.
